DMP-BD35 Panasonic

The Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-Ray DVD Player has been announced by Panasonic as the successor to the very popular DMP-BD30.

It's a slimmer player, being almost a centimetre shorter and a massive 8cm less deep. As far as features are concerned, the DMP-BD35 has Profile 2.0 and BD-Live compatibility, which means the interactive features on new and upcoming DVDs will be accessible which older Profile 1.0 and 1.1 players will miss out on. There is also an Ethernet port to allow internet connectivity which is necessary for the interactive content as well as software and firmware updates.

The analogue 5.1 audio outputs have been dropped which means the HD audio formats are now only availble via HDMI output. This shouldn't be a big deal for people using HDMI friendly AV equipment but obviously not so good if you were planning on accessing HD audio via analogue connections. However, the DMP-BD35 can internally decode all the new HD codecs, so by using HDMI you will hear the full performance of the HD audio codecs, even if your AV system can't decode them.
